Does your website add any real value to your business? Think about that.

“It’s not about the glitz and glamour,” says Wendy Coulter, CEO of Hummingbird Creative Group, Inc., a Cary, NC branding agency. “A good website creates functionality that helps reduce costs, attract more business and get the message out there to more people.”

In 2013, Avance Care, a growing medical practice in the Triangle with three locations, hired Hummingbird to help promote a patient care model that shortens wait times and tedious paperwork.

Tom Welsh, Program Committee Chair of the North Carolina Executive Roundtable (NCER), announced that Mike York, VP of sales and recruiting for Alliance of Professionals and Consultants, will examine the key issues regarding hiring a permanent employee versus a contractor as the facilitator in discussion on, “Hiring vs. Contracting” at Stancil & Co., 4909 Windy Hill Dr., Raleigh on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. Roundtables are open to NCER Members ($5 per session) and Friends ($10 per session). Pastries and coffee will be supplied.

Mike York has over thirty years of experience in working with customers in the areas of consulting, project management and workforce solutions. He has created and launched new services and initiatives, consulted with small companies and provided training for entrepreneurs. Questions included for discussion: What are the differences between a W-2 employee and a 1099 contractor, Who decides if I made the right decision, and What bad things can happen if I made the wrong classification?

Currently York is Vice President of sales and recruiting for Alliance of Professionals and Consultants, a Native American staffing and consulting company. He is a graduate of Murray State University and a graduate of Villanova University’s Strategic Leadership Institute. York is also the author of Reset: Finding God, finding yourself and finding employment and conducts workshops under the same name. As a speaker, he has spoken at numerous events about subjects including emerging technology, the implications of the aging workforce, relentless market trends and responsible leadership.

NCER hosts a series of Roundtables focused on topical issues facing Managers of small and medium sized businesses today. The Roundtables will provide a small forum moderated format to network, exchange ideas, and share best practices.

“NCER is introducing this monthly morning roundtable series to expand our event schedule to a different day part to meet the needs of busy executives, said Welsh. “The format was designed to bring members and guests into a more intimate workshop setting.
