The Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC) is kicking off its “2016 Lupus Empowerment Workshop Series” in Asheville on Wednesday, May 25.

The workshop in Asheville will take place from 6:30-8:30PM at All Souls Cathedral located at 9 Swan Street in Asheville (28803). Dr. Sheetal Vora with Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Children’s Hospital will present “Complementary & Alternative Treatments.”

In this session, attendees will learn about the scientific research regarding specific types of complementary and alternative medicine to try and improve overall health. These diverse therapies – used either with conventional medicine (complementary) or instead of conventional medicine (alternative) – include homeopathy, chiropractic, naturopathy, massage therapy, meditation and supplements.

The “2016 Lupus Empowerment Workshop Series” is a six-city series of educational workshops that will provide individuals affected by lupus with methods for not only living, but also thriving. The seminars offer information on different topics from subject matter experts. The remaining five will take place on: June 14 in Fayetteville; June 15 in Greensboro; July 19 in Wilmington and on Aug. 20 in Charlotte and Raleigh.
