WAYNESVILLE, N.C., Aug. 20, 2014– The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCVMA) has announced the organization’s official 2014-2015 Executive Officers. Dr. Kristen Hammett, veterinarian at Animal Hospital of Waynesville, will serve as NCVMA’s president-elect. Dr. Hammett received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in Auburn, Alabama, and is the owner of the Animal Hospital of Waynesville, the first American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited practice in North Carolina west of Asheville.

Other members of the 2014-2015 executive board include:

- President: Shannon Foy, DVM, Brentwood Veterinary Center in Wilson (resides in Goldsboro).

- Vice President: Tom Kuhn, DVM, Animal Hospital East in Asheville (resides in Swannanoa).

- Secretary-Treasurer: Steve Stelma, DVM, Animal Care Center in New Bern (resides in Trenton)

- Immediate Past President: David Linzey, DVM, Animal Emergency & Pet Care Clinic of the High Country (resides in Boone).

The Executive Officers, working with the board of directors, will provide guidance on all NCVMA activities and initiatives, as well as oversight of strategic planning and future direction of the organization. Founded in 1902, NCVMA is a professional organization of veterinarians dedicated to compassionate animal care and quality veterinary medicine.
