North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association Names Dr. Shannon Foy As New President

WILSON, N.C., Aug. 21, 2014– The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCVMA) has announced the organization’s official 2014-2015 Executive Officers. Dr. Shannon Foy, owner of Brentwood Veterinary Clinic in Wilson, will serve as NCVMA president. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in animal science from NC State University and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the university’s College of Veterinary Medicine. While attending veterinary school, Dr. Foy earned the Small Animal Clinical Proficiency Award and the Pfizer Excellence in Swine Medicine Awards. A member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), she joined Brentwood Veterinary Clinic in 1995 and purchased the hospital in 2007. Dr. Foy resides in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Other members of the 2014-2015 executive board include:

- President-Elect: Kristen Hammett, DVM, Waynesville Animal Hospital (resides in Waynesville).

- Vice President: Tom Kuhn, DVM, Animal Hospital East in Asheville (resides in Swannanoa).

- Secretary-Treasurer: Steve Stelma, DVM, Animal Care Center in New Bern (resides in Trenton).

- Immediate Past President: David Linzey, DVM, Animal Emergency and Pet Care Clinic of the High Country (resides in Boone).

The Executive Officers, working with the board of directors will provide guidance on all NCVMA activities and initiatives, as well as oversight of strategic planning and future direction of the organization. Founded in 1902, NCVMA is a professional organization of veterinarians dedicated to compassionate animal care and quality veterinary medicine.
