Family and friends of the late Brett Morgan are hosting a track race at the Giordana Velodrome in his memory on Saturday, May 18. The “Red Rider Classic in Memory of Brett Morgan” will take place from 4:00-9:00PM at the velodrome located at 1000 Riverwalk Parkway in Rock Hill, S.C. Proceeds will support 24 Hours of Booty.

“It means so much to do this event in Brett’s [Morgan] memory and to carry out his dream of hosting an event at the Giordana Velodrome,” said Chris Fernandez, a close friend and teammate of Brett Morgan. Morgan had worked for Wells Fargo and passed away in Jan. 2012 after being hit by a truck in Uptown Charlotte. "Brett formed Team Impact with me to help support local cancer charities. He was an avid cyclist who loved track cycling and was very excited about the opening of the velodrome. We look forward to bringing his family, friends, teammates, and cycling community together to celebrate Brett while raising funds for a cause that meant so much to him.”

Sponsored by Wells Fargo, the “Red Rider Classic” will feature food for purchase, a silent auction and the opportunity to watch cycling races, which begin at 5 PM. In addition to the National Anthem, there will be a moment of silence in memory of Brett Morgan. The rider entry fee for the races is $25 per person. There is no charge to attend the event, but donations are welcome.

“We are excited to partner with Wells Fargo in support of this event in memory of Brett Morgan. This event will attract top competitive track cyclists from around the country for an exciting night of races at the Giordana Velodrome in Rock Hill, SC,” said Thad Fischer, Cycling Coordinator, City of Rock Hill.

“Brett [Morgan] was a big part of the 24 Hours of Booty family and Charlotte’s cycling community, so we are honored to be part of this inaugural event to continue his passion and legacy,” said Basil Lyberg, executive director of 24 Hours of Booty. “We appreciate all that his family and teammates are doing to support the fight against cancer.”
