The North Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (NCPRSA) received third prize at the PRServing America awards for the Band Together NC 2013 promotional campaign, submitted on behalf of the chapter by S&A Cherokee.

Co-sponsored by HGTV and the DIY Network on behalf of Rebuilding Together, PRServing America is an awards program that recognizes and rewards PRSA and PRSSA chapters based on two categories:

• Philanthropic programs conducted in partnership with local affiliates of Rebuilding Together.

• Philanthropic programs conducted independently, with the goal of serving the public good.

“2013 has been a great year for Band Together and this award is the icing on the cake,” said Matt Strickland, executive director of Band Together NC. “Through our work with S&A Cherokee, we were able to raise more than $860,000 for Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. There’s a lot of good karma coming back to S&A Cherokee.”

Campaigns entered in the PRServing America awards were judged by PRSA members and evaluated based on their research, planning, execution, results and originality, as well as the campaigns’ ability to make a positive impact on the perception of the public relations profession.
