Leads Full Slate of Family-Friendly Activities

Sept. 25, 2017, Cary, N.C. — The organizers of Triangle Oktoberfest are excited to announce that The Polka Brothers – a four-man band of young polka lovers – will headline this year’s edition of the annual event. The Fourth Annual Triangle Oktoberfest is the largest in Central North Carolina and will take place this year on Oct. 6-7 at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre.

The Polka brothers are known for their extensive repertoire that includes classic polka favorites, original compositions, and cover versions of contemporary songs by such artists as Aerosmith, Weezer, Lady Gaga and the Rolling Stones. Based in New York City, the band recently played in Central Park and enjoys performing nationwide.

Triangle Oktoberfest is organized by the Rotary Clubs of Apex Sunrise and Cary MacGregor. This year they have selected The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as the main charity beneficiary.

In addition to performances by The Polka Brothers, participants can enjoy music from Peak City Sound, dancing, traditional Bavarian food and fare, wiener dog races, a yodeling contest, Hammerschlagen nail-pounding contest, and the Mass Krug Stemmen (stein hoist competition). It also wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without beers from Munich and local craft breweries. Vendors selling authentic attire and steins will also be on site.

Triangle Oktoberfest runs from 6-11 p.m. on October 6, and 1-11 p.m. on October 7.

The full schedule of events for Friday is available at https://triangleoktoberfest.org/friday-schedule/, and for Saturday at https://triangleoktoberfest.org/saturday-schedule/.

“This event has grown every year, so much so that we can attract a popular band like The Polka Brothers to come play for us,” said Triangle Oktoberfest Bürgermeister Randy Bossé. “This celebration embodies ‘Gemütlichkeit’ – which means warmth, friendliness and good cheer – and we want everyone to come and have a good time while supporting a good cause.”

Friday tickets are $15; and Saturday tickets are $20, with discounted $15 tickets available after 6 p.m. The event is free for children aged 16 and younger, and discounts are available for seniors and military personnel. Purchase tickets at http://triangleoktoberfest.org/buy-tickets/, boothamphitheatre.com, the Booth Amphitheatre Box Office, or by calling 1-800-514-3849.
