The 2015 3-Gun Nation Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship is coming to VIRginia International Raceway June 27 to 28 for a two-day shooting sports event. The 3-Gun Nation Regional Championship Series includes five matches throughout the year providing championship-caliber 3-gun competition across the United States. The VIR event, which is presented by Bushmaster Firearms, will welcome pro, intermediate and amateur shooters to the track’s premium onsite shooting ranges with a blend of Pro Series-style, natural terrain and long-range target presentations.

As the first official shooting sports competition ever hosted at VIR, participants will test their skills on the track’s NRA-approved traditional ranges, shoot-house and natural terrain areas for courses of fire. Registration for the event sold out within 24-hours, with 220 participants confirmed to compete.

The weekend’s main events are based on the exciting sport of 3-gun shooting in which competitors use three different firearms – a modern sporting rifle, a pistol and a shotgun. Participants compete in matches with various “stages” or scenarios in which they must engage targets using one gun or multiple guns in a specific sequence. Scores are given out at each stage based on accuracy and speed, as well as the lowest total time accumulated for all stages, including penalties, determines the winner of the match.

VIR boasts a wide array of shooting facilities, including seven ranges varying from 50 to 1,000 yards and a Tactical Training Complex encompassing a simulated urban environment, live fire shoot-house and classroom. Shooters of any skill level can enjoy hands-on training and even challenge family, friends or business associates to official skeet competitions on National Skeet Shooting Association-approved courses throughout the year.
