RALEIGH, N.C., July 21, 2014 – VMZINC®-US, the international brand name of rolled zinc products manufactured and sold by the Building Products Unit of the Umicore group, has announced that the company received two 2014 Design Awards from Metal Architecture for its work on Leon Levine Hall of Medical Sciences at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina and the office and warehouse for Adjustable Forms Inc. in Lombard, Illinois. As a 2014 winner, both projects will be featured in the July issue of Metal Architecture.

VMZINC® received the Judges Award design award in the ribbed metal wall panels category for its work at Leon Levine Hall, which houses Campbell University’s physician assistant program and its School of Osteopathic Medicine. VMZINC® used VMZ interlocking panels, which are low-maintenance, long-lasting and economical, for the walls and standing seam panels for the roof of the new 96,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility. As North Carolina’s first new medical school constructed in the last 35 years, this building needed durable materials to help it most appropriately serve the school and its students for years to come.

Additionally, VMZINC® received an award in the Ribbed Metal Wall Panel category for its involvement on the new headquarters and warehouse for Adjustable Forms Inc., one of the most respected concrete construction firms in the industry. As the company aimed to qualify for a LEED Gold rating with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), VMZINC® corrugated and Dri-Design panels, used for the exterior of both buildings, which provide a contemporary look while remaining environmentally friendly. Both types of panels are 100 percent recyclable, and they will preserve the facility’s color for decades due to the self-healing properties of zinc.

Metal Architecture magazine is the leading authority on the use of metal in architectural applications and building design. It seeks to educate architects, design professionals and engineers engaged in new construction, retrofit, renovation and the modernization of buildings.
