Wake Radiology hires new CIO to lead technology initiatives

Wake Radiology, the Triangle’s leading provider of outpatient medical imaging, has hired an experienced medical technology professional as the practice’s new chief information officer.

Matt Dewey brings nearly 20 years of medical imaging experience to Wake Radiology. He most recently served as Director of IT Applications and Architecture for a large outpatient imaging practice in Minnesota. Dewey replaces Ron Mitchell, who retired from Wake Radiology after 10 years of service.

Technology is playing an increasingly important role in radiology. The move to digital imaging has transformed the industry, producing higher quality images and making it easier than ever before to collect and share more images, more quickly with fellow radiologists and other physicians. Wake Radiology’s investments in new technology and software also enable radiologists to capture high resolution images using the lowest possible dose.

“Wake Radiology has a national reputation in the radiology community for adopting cutting-edge technologies and being a leader in the industry,” said Dewey, who will manage a team of 13 IT professionals at Wake Radiology. “It is committed to investing in patients, and I’m excited to join the Wake Radiology team.”

Dewey graduated from Weber State University in 1997 with a degree in Information Systems and Technology. He has spent his entire career in the medical imaging field.
