RALEIGH, N.C. (March 25, 2014) – The Raleigh Convention Center will sizzle on Tuesday, April 1st at Wake Tech’s annual Culinary Arts Showcase! Students and professionals from across the Southeast will put their skills to the test in one of the country’s largest American Culinary Federation (ACF)-sanctioned cooking and baking competitions. The public is invited from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center to watch culinary students from across the Southeast face off in a Hot Foods Cooking Challenge, similar to the television show “Chopped.” Teams of two will have two hours to prepare appetizers and entrees from a mystery box of ingredients! Prizes will be awarded for the winners.

There will also be award-winning cakes and showpieces on display, as well as food demonstrations, ice carvings, restaurant samples, children’s activities and a silent auction. Proceeds benefit the Wake Tech Foundation Culinary Arts Fund. Admission is $8 in advance, $10 at the door, $5 for students, and includes coupons for food samples.
