RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 13, 2014 – William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, is proud to announce that its Musical Theatre Program is hosting and performing the award-winning rock musical, Spring Awakening, Saturday, Feb. 15, through Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 in Leggett Theatre, located in Main Building at 15 East Peace St. The campus musical was first set to open on Thursday, Feb. 13, but was cancelled due to inclement weather. The production is the winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and is an adaptation of Frank Wedekind's expressionist play about the trials, tribulations, and exhilaration of the teen years.

WPU’s adaptation of Spring Awakening will be directed by University Artistic Director and Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre, Jason Dula, MTE, and is open to the public. Tickets cost $18 for adults, $16 for senior citizens, Alumni, faculty, and staff, and $5 for students and children. Most show times run from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., but vary throughout the week. Spring Awakening is rated-R. Only people over the age of 18 will be permitted. The show is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
