William Peace University Named Among Best In Nation For Academics According To Latest NSSE Results

Local Four-Year Baccalaureate University Places In Top 10% Nationwide For Academics Per National Survey Of Student Engagement

RALEIGH, N.C., January 15, 2014 – William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu/), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has again been named among the best in the nation regarding academics. According to the 2013 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), William Peace ranked in the top 10% nationwide for student-faculty interaction, along with higher-order learning, reflective and integrative learning, learning strategies, discussions with diverse others, and supportive environment.

The annual report examines student engagement through surveys at bachelor's degree-granting colleges and universities across the United States, and helps provide insight and recommended policy change for those institutions. This year, nearly 335,000 students from more than 550 academic institutions participated.

For WPU, the results of the survey are further indication of the University's commitment to success and competition as a coeducational institution at the national level. In a study released this past October by U.S. News & World Report (Yahoo!), William Peace University ranked No. 1 in the nation regarding its notably high rate of student internships (http://news.yahoo.com/10-colleges-highest-rate-student-internships-140832155.html).

"We are thrilled to see such positive feedback from our students as we continue to strive for excellence," said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., president of William Peace University. "We believe that our close interaction with students makes for a positive academic experience, and will greatly benefit them as they make their way into the professional world. We have outstanding professors who truly care about their success, and that's something that really shines through when studies such as the NSSE are conducted."
