The Coalition to Hold Annual Advocacy Day and Popcorn Rally on May 10

The Coalition, a statewide group of individuals and organizations working in partnership to protect the rights of North Carolinians living with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and the disease of addiction, will hold its annual Advocacy Day and Popcorn Rally at the Legislative Building and Bicentennial Mall in Raleigh on Tuesday, May 10. Registration for the event will be held on the back portico of the Legislative Building beginning at 8 a.m., and participants can collect information on the current budget proposal and the day’s Legislative Committee meetings at the time of registration. Advocacy trainings will be held in the Legislative Building Auditorium beginning at 9 a.m. and will offer attendees information on ways to effectively advocate for essential services and supports with their Legislators. Popcorn will be available on the portico beginning at 11 a.m. and the Rally will start at noon on Bicentennial Mall.

Anyone interested in advocating for funding for mental health, developmental disability and addictive disease services is encouraged to attend this event.
