Attorney Caitlin Walton Joins The Law Firm of Essex Richards in Charlotte
Attorney Caitlin Walton has joined the law firm of Essex Richards in Charlotte. Her practice centers on civil litigation, with an emphasis on ERISA and employment litigation.
Walton accepted a position at the firm after completing a summer clerkship there. “During her clerkship, we were continually impressed by her intellect, research and writing abilities, and outstanding demeanor,” says Essex Richards Partner Norris Adams. “She’s going to be a tremendous asset for our clients.”
Walton earned her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. She served as a teaching assistant for Wake Forest Law's LL.M. degree program. In this capacity, she helped international lawyers and students who held law degrees in their home countries learn U.S. law and develop their legal writing and oral argument skills. Walton also served as the development editor of the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law.
She came to the legal profession by way of journalism. An eastern North Carolina native, she graduated summa cum laude from East Carolina University with a B.A. in English and a minor in journalism. While there, she served as editor-in-chief of The East Carolinian.
“I picked Essex Richards because I knew it would be a wonderful place to learn and grow as a young attorney,” she says. “The firm is made up of great people who also happen to be really great lawyers.”
