Baker Roofing Company Executive Vice President John Matthews has been named president of the company’s green and renewable energy division, Baker Renewable Energy.

Matthews will maintain his current position with Baker Roofing but provide oversight for the fast-growing renewable energy business which has a number of new and pending projects throughout the Southeast and beyond.

Matthews is also a LEED AP (Accredited Professional designated by the the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for the company.

In making the announcement, Baker said Jason Epstein, currently the department head for Baker Renewable Energy, has also been appointed executive vice president of the division.

“With these appointments and by providing additional structure for Baker Renewable Energy, we are demonstrating our commitment to the growing importance of renewable technologies, sustainable energy production and green building solutions. Our expectation to grow into a major presence in this market,” said W. Prentiss Baker, chairman of Baker Roofing.
