Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Corby Cochran Anderson and Theodore P. Pearce, attorneys in the firm’s Charlotte office, have been named by Who’s Who Legal as among the world’s leading franchise attorneys. They are the only North Carolina attorneys listed in the Who’s Who Legal: Franchise 2018.

“We congratulate Corby and Ted on their client successes and other accomplishments that have earned them recognition in the 2018 Who’s Who Legal: Franchiseguide,” said Bradley Charlotte Office Managing Partner Christopher C. Lam. “Our firm and clients are fortunate to benefit from their experience and leadership in franchise law.”

A partner and Co-Chair of Bradley’s Franchise Practice Group, Ms. Anderson focuses her practice on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on franchising, intellectual property and new media. She has represented clients in trials and appeals involving trademark, copyright, trade secret, patent, unfair competition, false advertising and defamation claims, as well as other contract and business tort disputes. Ms. Anderson also has defended business clients in class actions involving franchise, contract and investment issues. In addition, she regularly counsels clients on intellectual property, social media, privacy, advertising and franchise matters.

Ms. Anderson served as Editor-in-Chief of The Franchise Lawyer, published by the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Franchising, from 2013-2016. She was the co-presenter of the ABA Forum’s plenary session on annual legal developments in franchise and distribution law in 2017 and co-author of the book on that subject published by the ABA. Ms. Anderson was also the co-presenter of the International Franchise Association (IFA) Judicial Update at the IFA’s annual Legal Symposium in 2016. She founded the Charlotte area’s Franchise Business Network, a quarterly meeting of franchise professionals that Bradley co-sponsors with the IFA.

Ms. Anderson received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) from the College of William & Mary.

Serving as counsel and Co-Chair of Bradley’s Franchise Practice Group, Mr. Pearce concentrates his practice primarily on franchising. He handles the full range of transactional matters for franchise systems, including preparation and registration of franchise disclosure documents, drafting and negotiation of franchise-related agreements, and management of real estate portfolios. In addition, he has participated in a variety of financial transactions involving the purchase and sale of franchise systems by private equity groups and strategic purchasers.

Previously, Mr. Pearce spent 30 years managing the legal affairs of large global franchise systems, including Meineke Car Care Centers Inc., MAACO Auto Painting, and Econo Lube & Tune, among others.

Mr. Pearce received his J.D. from Syracuse University and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia (with distinction).

Scheduled to be published in October by London-based Law Business Research Limited, the 16th edition of Who’s Who Legal: Franchise seeks to identify the top lawyers in franchise law with experience assisting clients in the establishment, maintenance and growth of their franchise businesses. Only lawyers who receive the highest number of recommendations from peers and clients as determined through independent research are listed in the publication. The Who’s Who Legal guides are intended to serve as reference sources for companies seeking to corroborate the reputations of lawyers recommended by another party.
