British American Business Council and Poyner Spruill Present Program on International Cyber Security and U.S. Immigration Reform

The Triangle/Eastern N.C. Chapter of the British American Business Council and Poyner Spruill LLP will host a program addressing “U.S./International Cyber Security & U.S. Immigration Reform” on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This educational program with networking social to follow will be held at Poyner Spruill’s office at Suite 1900, 301 Fayetteville Street in Raleigh.

Attendees will hear the latest on the hot topics of data security/privacy and immigration reform from the following Poyner Spruill attorneys:

Elizabeth Johnson, Partner

Elizabeth’s practice focuses on privacy, information security and records management. Her comprehensive, practical approach to privacy law is reflected by the diversity of her clients, which hail from a variety of industries including health care, financial services, insurance, retail, telecom, utility, technology, consumer goods and client services.

Jennifer Parser, Of Counsel

Jennifer’s practice includes a broad range of immigration and labor and employment matters. She is a multi-lingual attorney able to handle all immigration matters, including numerous visa programs and petitions, deportation and political asylum cases, and naturalization and renunciation matters. She advises on I-9 compliance, oversees and responds to issues relating to employer-generated audits, and assists with Immigration and Custom Enforcement issues.

In addition, Kevin Hayes from U.K. Trade & Investment will comment on the recently announced cyber attack war games to be staged between the United Kingdom and United States.

Kevin has worked for GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) for over 20 years in a variety of roles, in Operations and most recently in Information Assurance and Cyber Security, where he now specializes. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a full and founding member of the Institute of Information Security Professionals.

“Cyber attacks on Sony and other private and public entities have dominated the headlines, and President Obama’s executive actions on immigration reform have spurred tremendous debate on the subject,” said Steve Cain, president of the Triangle/Eastern N.C. Chapter, BABC. “This program will address both very timely issues and provide expert insight and opinions.”
