Chernoff Newman Continues to Grow and Develop Public Relations Team

Chernoff Newman promoted Amanda DeWeese to PR director and hired Elizabeth Bonner as PR account manager, both based in the agency’s Charlotte office. The integrated marketing communications agency serves clients across the U.S., in food & beverage, healthcare, energy, education and finance.

Amanda DeWeese will lead the public relations and social media team for the agency. With nearly 15 years of experience, she will also continue to provide public relations and strategic communications counsel and services to many Chernoff Newman clients including Charleston County Aviation Authority, Charlotte Water, Deloitte Carolinas, Charlotte Douglas International Airport and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. She joined the agency in 2005 and has held various roles throughout the years, most recently as an account supervisor. Previously, DeWeese was public relations and special event coordinator at Drayton Hall in Charleston, S.C.

DeWeese graduated from the College of Charleston and achieved her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2011. She has served in leadership roles for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Charlotte Chapter, including chapter president in 2014, and is currently on the board of directors of The Housing Partnership, a nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing for low-income families in the Charlotte area.

Elizabeth Bonner joined as a public relations account manager where she will help develop and execute public relations and integrated communications strategies for Chernoff Newman clients. She brings over five years of experience in public relations, communications and politics. Most recently, she was the government affairs associate for The Glover Park Group based in Washington, D.C., where she helped clients engage and increase their brand awareness with policymakers through advocacy and communication. Previously, Bonner served as press assistant in the office of a U.S. House of Representatives member from North Carolina. Bonner graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South with an international and global studies degree.
