Charlotte Agenda has chosen Horack Talley litigation attorney Terry Brown Jr. for its 2016 class of 30 Under 30. Charlotte Agenda praised Brown for “creating a vision in law and politics.”

Brown, 29, practices commercial litigation, representing a wide range of business clients. He is also policy director for the Campaign to Re-elect Trevor Fuller, where he assists Fuller, chairman of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, in formulating policies and writing speeches and policy statements.

Brown is a fellow with New Leaders Council North Carolina, a bi-partisan organization which trains the next generation of leaders in business, politics, and entrepreneurship.

Among his community service activities, Brown volunteers his time as civic engagement chair of the Urban League of Central Carolinas Young Professional Auxiliary. He was also recently named to the steering committee for Bechtler Young Visionaries, an affiliate of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. The committee helps plan events and advises how to connect young professionals to the museum.

Agenda editors asked Brown what advice he would give to his 21-year-old self. “Follow your own internal compass and stay focused. Don’t try to emulate anyone else’s success,” Brown replied. “You have all the tools you need to be unapologetically great – you just have to make it happen.”

Brown, a graduate of Campbell University School of Law and UNC Charlotte, is a member of the UNC Charlotte Black Alumni Board.
