Parade of Homes House Raises Awareness and Funds

KJ Construction, Inc. has announced it has raised $70,000 for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a nonprofit that provides guide dogs at no cost to individuals with vision loss. The company held a special fundraiser at Logan’s Lair, its featured home for the 2018 Parade of Homes, on October 10. Invited guests included suppliers, subcontractors, family and friends.

Visitors to Logan’s Lair during the 2018 Triangle Parade of Homes were invited to take brochures and other promotional materials from Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

KJ Construction had originally hoped to raise $50,000 – the cost to train one dog – but far surpassed its goal. The company had pledged to match 25 percent of all donations. Vendor discounts were applied as contributions as invoices were paid.

Owner Steven Kjellberg and his family have been involved with Guiding Eyes for the Blind for about 15 years and have adopted two dogs – Griffin and Logan (the home’s namesake) – that received training but for some reason or other were not able to pass the test to become guide dogs.

“Our family is completely overwhelmed by the support this fundraising campaign has received,” said Kjellberg. “This charity is very close to our hearts, and we are honored to give back to it.”
