In 2013, the average price of a home increased by 10.9 percent compared to 2012. For more than three million homeowners nationwide, the increase in prices restored equity in their homes.

“As people regain equity in their homes, many people in the greater-Triangle area who have been waiting to sell are now exploring their options,” said Linda Craft, CEO of Linda Craft & Team, REALTORS® & Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE). ““As people regain equity in their homes, many who have been waiting to sell are now exploring their options.”

In 2014, home prices have continued to steadily rise in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, but at a slower rate. With the pace of home price increases slowing, many homeowners are now considering selling their homes.

“The market conditions that drove-up home prices also tilted the market in favor of sellers. However, this year the market is expected to rebalance, and the slowing rate of home price increases is a sign that is happening. More people are looking to sell now to take advantage of the favorable conditions,” Craft said.

As a Certified Distressed Property Expert® (CDPE), Linda Craft is specially trained to help distressed homeowners understand their options. “Homeowners who have been struggling in recent years need to know that the housing market rebound is providing many with paths out of difficult situations,” Craft said.

The CDPE designation provides real estate agents with the tools and knowledge needed to efficiently, ethically and effectively pursue foreclosure alternatives, specifically short sales. In addition to their initial training, CDPE-designated agents are connected to a network of professionals via the Charfen Institute, allowing them to remain regularly updated on the complex and quickly changing real estate market.
