Moore & Van Allen PLLC is pleased to announce that Ashley Simmons has joined the Firm’s public affairs team, MVA Public Affairs, as director of public relations.

“We are pleased to welcome Ashley to MVA Public Affairs,” said Managing Director & Head of Public Affairs Walter S. Price. “She brings experience managing communications and media relations on a variety of issues, as well as a strong background in local government and public policy that will help us best serve our clients.”

Simmons will work with the MVA Public Affairs communications team to provide clients with strategic communications and media relations counsel. She will develop and manage public relations campaigns, and craft messaging and content for various communications channels.

Simmons has nearly 10 years of communications and public policy experience. She previously held communications roles with the City of Charlotte, most recently as the strategic storytelling manager. Prior to that, Simmons served as the communications services manager for the Charlotte city manager’s office and the communications manager for the mayor’s office. Before coming to Charlotte, Simmons was the chief public information officer for Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools in Nashville, North Carolina.

Simmons is active in the Charlotte chapter of the Public Relations Society of America as well as other community organizations. She earned her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her M.P.A. from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
