Bookmark and Share Raleigh, NC - April 21, 2016 -

There’s a new effort by two local firms to help graduates of the Vernon Malone College and Career Academy pursue higher education. Holt Brothers Construction and S&ME Engineering are establishing scholarships that will enable VMCCA graduates to earn a college degree at Wake Tech Community College. Both firms wanted to inspire students to work toward rewarding careers while supporting Wake County Public Schools and Wake Tech.

Holt Brothers Construction has made a 10-year, $35,000 commitment to the Wake Tech Foundation. The funds will establish a $1,000-per-year award each year for the next ten years and will also earmark $2,500 per year toward a permanent scholarship endowment.

S&ME Engineering is making a five-year commitment that will include a $1,500 scholarship and a $2,000 scholarship each year.

Students at Vernon Malone CCA are being encouraged to apply for the scholarships immediately, for the fall 2016 semester!

Vernon Malone CCA offers eight diploma/certificate programs, in automotive collision repair, biopharmaceutical technology, cosmetology, facilities technology (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and welding), geomatics technology, nurse aide, simulation and game development, and welding. Wake Tech instructors provide technical training at the academy. Learn more at wcpss.net/vernonmalonecca.
