CHAPEL HILL -- Nourish International World Headquarters today announced the date of its annual Summer Institute and Summer Banquet to celebrate its students and supporters and to honor its outgoing executive director, Kelly Phoenix. The Summer Institute will run from July 28th, 2016 through August 1st, 2016 at NC State University in partnership with the local NC State Chapter of Nourish International. The Institute will bring over 20 speakers from around the globe to speak on topics ranging from international development to social entrepreneurship. Notable speakers include leaders such as Tom Chi, co-founder of GoogleX and creator of Google Glass, and Bob Achura, Executive Director of the Global Health Network - Uganda.

“Over the past 10 years thousands of Nourish students have attended our annual Summer Institute, leaving with hands-on training to better prepare them for the world ahead,” explained Phoenix, who was one of the winners of The Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Leadership Awards in 2013. “Students are making lifetime friendships, learning first hand about international development, social entrepreneurship, and world affairs. In the span of five days, they learn how to run a non-profit, start a social venture, and navigate the challenges of leadership. The Institute is truly the flagship program of our organization.”

The Summer Banquet will be held at the Carolina Country Club in Raleigh on Sunday, July 31, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tickets will cost $75 for individuals and $135 for couples and will include dinner and two drink tickets. Proceeds will fund scholarships and training programs for students during the five-day Summer Institute leadership training workshop.

During the Banquet, students will share their experiences of being abroad through stories, pictures, and video compilations. The organization’s goals for the upcoming year will be revealed and accomplishments from the past year will be celebrated. Nourish’s sponsors will be recognized for their support and awards will be handed out.

Nourish’s mission is to engage high school and college students across the country in partnership with local organizations and communities to make an impact on extreme poverty. In 2015, more than 1,500 students in 64 chapters partnered with local organizations on 27 poverty alleviation projects in communities across the globe.

Sponsors of the 2016 Summer Institute include the Fenwick Foundation, BackHome Productions, Cisco, and individual community members.
