RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 7, 2015 – Passage Home and the J.D. Lewis Multi-Purpose Center drew an enthusiastic crowd of more than 1,300 for the “Building a Stronger Raleigh Together” Family Festival and All-Star Exhibition game at Broughton High School on Saturday, Aug. 1. The events were part of a campaign by the nonprofits to raise $250,000 in 2015 to combat issues facing local families in need, including access to stable housing, healthy food, education, jobs and more.

Key community supporters, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and Cargill were in attendance on Saturday, as well as Passage Home CEO, Jeanne Tedrow and Raleigh City Councilman Bonner Gaylord. Those in attendance enjoyed food trucks, inflatables, a climbing wall, a chance to play soccer with Wells Thompson of the Carolina RailHawks, and music by Chris Hendricks.

Following the Family Festival, Phoenix Suns small forward T.J. Warren and San Antonio Spurs forward David West played alongside N.C. State assist leader and legend Chris Corchiani in an exhibition game with numerous other Raleigh basketball standouts such as PJ Tucker, James Mays, and Brock Young. There were some amazing dunks from overseas players, Dre Anderson and Milton Chavis, to get the crowd excited and showcase some of the local talent that Raleigh produces.

The fun isn’t over yet. “Building a Stronger Raleigh Together” will be hosting a third and final campaign event of their inaugural year – a VIP Affair – on Thursday, September 3rd at Wine and Design from 7-10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.strongerraleigh.com or at the door on September 3rd.
