REGISTRATION OPEN FOR WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S IN ALAMANCE COUNTY

Registration is now open for the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. The Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter is inviting Alamance County and surrounding area residents to turn their community into a sea of purple and help take steps to fight Alzheimer’s.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Alamance County will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Historic Train Depot, located at 200 S. Main Street in Burlington. Check-in opens at 9 a.m. and the Walks start at 10:30 a.m. The presenting sponsor is PRA Group and this year’s goal for the Alamance County Walk is $180,000.

Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® participants will complete a two-mile walk and will learn about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment, and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Association. Walk participants will also join in a meaningful tribute ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

“We invite the community to join us in taking steps for Alzheimer’s disease to support those who are among the 170,000 North Carolina residents living with Alzheimer’s and their 473,000 caregivers,” said Katherine Lambert, CEO of the Western Carolina Chapter. “Our Walks are a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together to help end this disease and to raise critically need funds for Alzheimer’s research and local support services.”

The Alzheimer’s Association - Western Carolina Chapter hosts 13 walks across central and western North Carolina including: Asheville, Alamance Co., Charlotte, Gaston/Cleveland/Lincoln Counties, Guilford Co., Henderson Co., Hickory, Iredell Co., Moore Co., Mount Airy, North Wilkesboro, Rowan-Cabarrus Counties, and Winston-Salem.
