Bookmark and Share Charlotte, NC - March 25, 2013

Charlotte’s Jazz Arts Initiative is making scholarships available for the upcoming 2013 JazzArts Music Camp featuring international saxophonist and music educator Donald Harrison. The JazzArts Music Camp is an exciting one-week comprehensive music training program for students in grades 7 – 12 who are ready to get their jazz on! The camp is June 24 – 28, 2013 from 9am – 3pm each day and will be held at Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28211.

“Learning from a jazz legend like Donald Harrison will be a life-changing experience for young area musicians who are interested in learning more about jazz improvisation,” said Jazz Arts Initiative executive director, Lonnie Davis. “We welcome students from all over the Carolinas for an outstanding summer learning experience that they will be sure to enjoy.”

Camp tuition for the week is $285, but Jazz Arts Initiative is making scholarships available (up to 90% of the tuition cost) on a need-based sliding scale determined by family size and household income. The scholarship funds come by generous grant from the ELLA FITZGERALD CHARITABLE FOUNDATION. Funds are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis. For more information about the camp and available scholarships, email info@theJazzArts.org or call 704-336-9350. Pre-registration is required and can be done online at www.theJazzArts.org.
