Virginia Veterinary Medical Association Names Dr. Terry L. Taylor As Vice President

RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Veterinary Medical Association ( http://www.vvma.org/ ) has announced the organization’s 2013-2014 board of directors. Terry L. Taylor D.V.M. has been named vice president of the organization. A retired veterinarian for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Dr. Taylor received his degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. He began his veterinary career as a mixed animal practitioner in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

In 1981, Dr. Taylor joined the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Veterinary Services as a field veterinary medical officer in Northeastern Ohio. Later, he served as an assistant area veterinarian in charge in Georgia, and in 1986, he relocated to Richmond, Va., as the area veterinarian in charge in Virginia. From 2003 until his retirement in 2012, Dr. Taylor also served as commander of the Green Team, one of four national emergency response teams that deal with livestock and poultry emergencies and disasters.

- President: Dr. Mark Finkler, Roanoke Animal Hospital, Roanoke, Va.

- President-Elect: Dr. Jeffrey Newman, Caring Hands Animal Hospitals, Arlington and Ashburn, Va.

- Secretary and Treasurer: Dr. Keith de la Cruz, Atlas District Veterinary Hospital, Washington, D.C.

DETAILS:

-Dr. Taylor and his wife, Diane, reside in North Chesterfield, Va. They have two standard black and tan dachshunds named Sam and Addie.

-Dr. Taylor enjoys pigeon racing, gardening, hiking and reading.
