RALEIGH, N.C. — WakeEd Partnership, a business-backed nonprofit organization committed to improving public education in the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), recently announced its newly elected chair and chair-elect of the 2017-2018 board of directors. Scot McAlexander, Raleigh market president for Xenith Banks, will serve as chair, and Stephanie Jensen, director of controlling and data management at BASF, will serve as chair-elect.

McAlexander received a bachelor’s degree in social science from Radford University, as well as an MBA from the Pamplin School of Business at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In 2014, he began his position as Xenith Bank’s Raleigh market president. He lives in Raleigh with his wife, Robin, who has been a WCPSS educator for the past 10 years. Their two adult children both attended and graduated from Wake County public schools. Throughout his career in the banking industry, McAlexander has remained active in local community organizations. His dedication to public service, as well as the many connections he has made through his career and community involvement, made him an ideal chair of WakeEd’s board.

Stephanie Jensen earned both a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Bentley University. She has been an employee at BASF, the North American crop protection company, for more than 15 years. She lives in Willow Springs with her husband and their two children, both of whom attend Wake County public schools. Similar to McAlexander, Jensen’s personal stake in the well-being of WCPSS, as well as, her expertise in finance and business will make her a successful chair elect.

“Scot and Stephanie are both so passionate about the mission of our organization, and they have already brought several unique ideas for how we can achieve our goals,” said Steve Parrott, WakeEd president. “We could not be more excited that they will be leading our board this year.”
